When did your baby drop to just one nap - and what were the signs?

Just wondered as DS (who is crap sleeper anyway) has just started being really difficult to get to sleep at bedtime. He's 10 months and has fallen into a pattern of longish nap in the morning (1.5-2hrs and feeds to sleep ), usually awake by 12ish then a short nap in the afternoon, often in the buggy usually around 3ish

My 0ne yr old did this for about 5weeks she dropped both her naps (45mins each) 10 an 2 even though i still felt she needed a nap, she has recently started taking naps again both of them! if he is over tired he may find it hard to go sleep. I tightened my night time routine up when i was having trouble getting her to sleep at bedtime, let me know if you would like to know our routine!

I read somewhere that if you want them to go to bed at about 7pm you should not let them be asleep after 3.30pm.

My lo is 11 months, a terrible (but improving) sleeper too. We have done the gradual withdrawl / retreat method for learning to go to sleep by himself and this has been fantastically successful (but not perfect!)

I was wondering about when naps go from 2 to 1 so will be watching this one!

dd2 is now 15 mths and for the last month or so has been trying to do the one nap a day thing, she used to do 1hr am 10.30-11.30 and then do 2.30-4 afternoons. She now manages to go until about 1-2pm before dropping for 1.5-2hrs. Although today I took her out in the car to meet friends for lunch and she dropped off about 12.15 and stayed asleep until 1pm!! then went again 3.30-4.30

oh and she happily went to bed at 7pm and fell asleep by half past.

Well I think my LO is dropping to one at 10 months. He's always been really difficult to get to nap though (and still not sleeping through by a long chalk) so I don't know whether it's just me giving up the battle for that first nap. But he seems to do okay on just one - wakes about 6.30, naps from about 1 -3 or 3.30, goes to bed at 7. He used to nap for about 45 mins at 9 or 10ish and still often looks tired then but either I can't get him to sleep at all or he wakes up after 20 mins.

I know they say that naps affect nighttime sleep but I can't see a pattern. The 2 days he goes to nursery he hardly sleeps at all - maybe one 45 minuter and I don't think those nights are any worse than the rest. Then again I may be too sleep deprived to remember...
