Erratic sleep in 21m dd - anyone with similiar experience ?

ok - my dd is not a good sleeper. This has been going on since about 12m and I have put it down to teething in the main, as her canines took ages to come through - they are now through. However - she has had a couple of phases of really good sleep, the most recent being the last 2/3 weeks. Has slept like a dream, gone down at 7pm-ish and usually wakes around 6 for milk, and then would go back to sleep for a good hour or so. So far so good, but on Monday she started crying almost the instant we put her to bed, made herself sick after a short period of time and now will not settle at all. I was up for at least 3 hours on Tue night and last night she did not go to sleep until gone 9, awake again at 5. I have tried leaving her (she has made herself sick)and staying in the room and moving out (she notices). We now have the travel cot in the spare room where I can plonk her and get some kip myself without disturbing DP or ds (they share a room). This seems to be the only thing that works - she wants me in the room at all times.

Does anyone have any similiar experiences ? I just don't know why she is so great for a while and then suddenly gets into these bad patterns. Is it par for the course ?

Meant to say dd and ds share a room, not dp and ds ! Sorry, my train of thought is all over the place today.
