Is this overtired?! 9 month old sleep gone to pot

My 9.5 month old has since about 4 months been a good night sleeper, I’d pretty much stopped feeding at night by 5 months. His naps have been decent for a while too- two chunky naps, morning for 2 hrs and pm for 45 mins-1 hr. I try to put him down around 3 -3.5 hrs of awake time.

But lately things at night have been awful, waking up screaming 45 mins after bedtime, then again an hour later and throughout the night at regular intervals. Will go back to sleep after a feed, sometimes he’s out even before the milk has started to flow, just a couple of sucks!

He started crawling a couple of weeks ago- obviously burning a lot of energy and babbling non stop. Is he waking because he’s knackered from this? Is he overtired? Does he need less awake time before bed? More naps?! Nothing I do seems to work.

He’s a confusing baby in that he gets more jolly/manic/physical the more tired he gets so sometimes is giggling away as I’m tryjnh to put him to bed Confused.

Please help!

Sounds like the 8-10 month sleep regression - it’ll pass!

Thanks - how long does it last?! I’ve resorted to feeding as it settles him quickly and I’m so knackered but I’m obvs worried about bad habits etc etc.

What was your baby doing in terms of naps/awake time at this age? Worried I’m getting that wrong too. Argh.

Feeding to sleep is totally normal and nothing to be afraid of. It works for a reason and isn’t a bad habit.
