sitting self up in cot and screaming - how to resolve

dd is 11 mths and used to go to sleep relatively easily in the evenings - 'til 2 weeks ago when she learnt how to sit herself up. problem is she can't lay herself back down and ends up getting herself in a right old state. each time we go in we lie her down, say sleepy time and leave - all in the dark. she keeps on doing it though - tonight we're on visit no. 8 so far. then we end up either bringing her downstairs to calm down or i give in and feed her (bf). i know this is just a phase but how long has it lasted for others? and any tips on what to do. i'm finding it really stressful. it's also been the case for daytime sleeps as well. she's also just starting to want to stand up with help - so i guess it'll be that once we get over this will it??????

is she in a sleeping bag?

I would say its got nothing to do with having learnt to sit up and just a wakeful period generally

yes - she's in a sleeping bag for all her sleeps.

she has a nap at 9ish for 45 mins (after waking up at about 5.30) and a nap after lunch at around 1-1.30 ish for 1.5 hrs. i have to wake her up both times usually. i wonder if she's having too much sleep during the day. or maybe make her bedtime later than the current 7ish?
