10 month co-sleeping baby won't sleep on his own

I started sleeping with ds when he was 9 months and going through a bad teething spell. It was fantastic for the first week or so - he would get in bed with me when he first woke at around 12 and I felt much more rested. But after a week he started waking up every 40 minutes until I get into bed with him (and then usually 2-3 times more before morning). So what do I do? Can I solve this without putting him back in his cot? I'm dreading getting up in the night again but I really need my evenings back (only chance to study...). Btw he is usually bf to sleep (just the first time, not every time), but even when he goes to sleep on his own he still wakes every 40 min. Sorry, so long...

is there someone else at home (a dp maybe?) who is willing to go into him and shush him back to sleep when he stirs slightly so he goes back before he gets worked up and wide awake? Just thinking of something that might work. I don't know if it will.

Thanks for your response. But if dh goes to him he starts screaming and it takes ages to settle him. If I go it usually only takes about 5 minutes - if it wasn't for the fact that it happens so often it wouldn't be a problem.
