My 11 month old won't nap in the morning anymore.

My baby used to follow his routine really well, including nap times. For over two weeks now, he cries and refuses to nap. He nees it so that he won't be tired and cranky... not sure how to have him go back to napping and to sleep 14 hours a day as he used to. Can anyone help me?

You can't make him. You need to relax.

It is hard to relax when he won't eat or do anything else because he's tired =(

They usually don’t drop from two naps until one nap until about 16-18 months but some can drop it early. Ds kept alternating between one and two naps at that age before fully dropping to one nap at 14 months old.

Well you can't make him sleep
What do you want us to do

PasstheStarmix · 01/08/2018 18:35

to one* not until!

Ds now sleeps anywhere from 1.5 hours-3 hours in the afternoon so there is hope. I find one nap so much easier to deal with as well for going out and everything.

So if he won’t eat because he’s tired change his routine and feed him earlier.

Children’s routines change as they get older.

No two children are exactly the same.

It’s completely normal.

My children both dropped daytime sleeps before they were two. My friend’s child was still having an afternoon nap at 4 yo.

There will be a bit of a transition stage as they go from two to one sleeps in the day. It's early days. Please don't get too upset this is going to be ok.

Maybe try a car journey or a walk in the pushchair or sling to encourage the mid day nap.

Thank you all for all the messages! I believe he will stay in between one and two naps like PasstheStarmix's Ds. As for giving him food earlier, he already has lunch at 11 am, cannot make it even earlier as he eats his fruit at 9 am. Hopefully it'll all fall in to place soon. Thank you once again =)

It’ll definitely fall into place. It’s amazing how it does but they just seem to know what to do and when. Ds just kind of did it eventually. Sounds like your little one is transitioning and some days he may have both naps and other days he’ll just have the one. I was concerned at first as like your little one ds seemed tired and like he was fighting sleep during the morning and sometimes he would just have a little rest. Once ds has fully transitioned the morning crankiness went completely.

had*

Let him have a nap before lunch he'll be fine. I have the most random DS ever Grin

Sounds like your DS has never read the manual.
