8 1/2 months and on one nap a day?

Is it possible? She's always been a terrible sleeper but she is really fighting her morning nap. She used to go to sleep anywhere between 9 and 11(!) and have about 40 mins - 1hr then a couple of hrs in the afternoon. THe last few days she's fought it to the extent that she hasn't been sleeping until about 1. It's such a pain because she had only just got herself into the previous nice little routine. When did your LO's start only needing one nap a day?

Sounds about right to me.

sounds early to me - my dd went to 1 nap at about 11 months and my (nearly) 8 month old has either 2 or 3 naps depending how long he sleeps at each one e.g. if they are short, he will have 3 and if they are longer ones he will have 2.

Is your lo happy/content between sleeps? If so, then your lo maybe doesnt need the extra sleep. If not, then they do need extra sleep - getting them to take it might not be so easy though!!

Thanks both. Personally I think she needs to sleep more but she never has listened to me. I'll pay her back when she's a teenager and wants to sleep all day.

my daughter dropped her morning nap when she was 5 m old by her own accord!....she was fine with it

Dropped it about 10 months here, but then reinstated for a couple of weeks, then dropped for good at 11 months. Lots of friends with older children still have 2 naps, so 8.5 months is def early, though not unheard of.

Thanks again, we're having the same problem again this morning so either she's going through one of her 'phases' or she's dropping it. She is a bit whingey but I've run out of options so I'll just have to ride it. Thanks for your help.
