dd is 4 months and today she has had 6 naps 10 minutes each. she is sooo grumpy when she wakes and obviously hasn't had enough kip but it is an hour long screaming battle to get her to go back to sleep, when she will sleep for another 10 minutes......
the only time she naps for longer is on my boob or in the car but of course she wakes up the moment the car stops! grrrrr
i really need her to sleep in her bed as i have a 3year old at home all day as well and i can't just sit around with her asleep on my boob for hours on end all day.
this is really driving me bonkers, any ideas?? please!!

Had thee same problem. Never did find a decent solution.

Are you swaddling her?

Have you tried a sling?

down for sleep at 9am and 11.30am always worked for me.

tbh she is 17lbs so i don't really fancy carrying her in a sling!! and she freaks out if i swaddle her, never did like it even as a newborn! ho hum, do they grow out of it eventually?

Yeah, my dd weighed a tonne too, but I still seem to be carrying her around rather too much of the time.

Yes, they do grow out of it usually. My dd will now sleep in her cot or the car (where she'll now stay asleep for up to an hour without the engine running), but woe betide us if we expect her to sleep anywhere different!

will she sleep if you take her for a walk in her pushchair?

or carry her in a sling? by a sling i don't been a bjorn type affair. get a mei tai or a wrap. i still carry my 11 mo old easily.

Daisybo, the only way my 5 month old DS will nap is in his pram - I got fed up with having to go out every time he needed a nap so now I push the pram around the flat until he falls asleep and then park it in a corner. He'll usually sleep for around 1 hour at a time, although sometimes I have to start pushing for a bit if he stirs after 45 minutes. Obviously this isn't ideal and I'd much prefer it if he slept in his cot, but at least this way he's getting 3 hours of daytime sleep.
