Anyone have a non sleeping 9 month old?

Anyone deal with a baby who still woke every 1-2 hours at 9 months?

Please say it's not just me and my (clearly) poor parenting.

How did you handle it? I need to sleep!

She has a consistent bedtime routine and is breastfed to sleep. And we go with the flow with naps.

Yep! Mine wakes every 1.5 hours but after we did CC he can often soothe himself back to sleep in a matter of seconds.
Not always.

he wakes for bfing 3-6 times a night (doesn’t selfsettle back down without it)

Never been so tired and sad. It’s so hard. Solidarity!

Pebblespony · 13/05/2018 22:54

Did this just start? My previously great sleeper is currently crying her head off.

Sunrise888 · 13/05/2018 22:57

My 9mo has never slept solidly, always looks for a comfort feed every 1-2h.

Pickleshickles · 13/05/2018 22:58

My first two were like that, up every hour or so. It was hell and only stopped when they were past 2.

My youngest doesn't sleep through but has proper long stretches. I have done nothing differently,

clareth · 13/05/2018 22:59

Yes me too. It’s bloody hard work. She’s 8 months and still wakes a gazillion times a night. A quick chomp on the boob and she’s back to sleep...but..she’s huuuuge..I’m sure she doesn’t need it. Comfort feeding I guess, but oh I’m so fucking knackered. So I’m sorry, I’ve no advice, but I feel your pain

NoSleepNever · 13/05/2018 23:00

I've just had my 9 mo start either waking an hour or after sleep at 7.30 and up until midnight or won't sleep until about 10 or 11pm sometimes. It's horrendous. I'm wondering what to do with her when she's awake. She's on one, rolling, trying to crawl, shouting. We're cosleeping and I've idea what to do with her when it happens!

I'm at a loss as CC makes her hysterical the moment I put her down and walk out.

HopeAndJoy16 · 13/05/2018 23:03

12 month old here who still wakes at least twice a night on a good night, sometimes every 45mins to an hour on a bad one. I quite often fantasize about running off to a hotel just for a solid night's sleep! My dd sleep did get btoefly better around 10/11 months but then got gradually worse again Sad

DoubleRamsey · 13/05/2018 23:07

I appreciate the solidarity! It's so hard!

We did CC tonight and it took 46 mins and she fell asleep. Has still woken every hour, but has settled quickly with feed.

I don't think I can take this until she is 2 Sad

It’s so hard, I’ve always just shoved a boob in her face the minute she stirred Hmm so as not to wake my other kids. But I’m so tempted to bugger off for a few nights to a spa hotel and let DH deal with it all. This too shall pass is the mantra in my head at the moment! If it’s any consolation at all, my other kids were sleeping ok by about 12 months...so I’m holding out for then!

IntoTheWoods84 · 14/05/2018 04:45

Do the hotel thing! (If your baby will take a bottle and you have a partner)

I stayed at a friend’s for 2 nights when it was really bad - waking every 30 mins for months on end - and it salvaged my mental health.

Felt guilty but my partner coped fine.

NoSleepNever · 14/05/2018 13:09

@clareth Did you have to use any CC/CIO or other methods for your children to sleep through at 12mo?

(Sorry to derail the threat OP, I'm so curious!)

clareth · 14/05/2018 15:47

We did we did leave the first to cry a bit, but also she had a dummy, and when she finally realised how to put it back in herself, we had peaceful nights...second slept through as soon as he took a bottle, never took a dummy but had a muslin that he used as a comforter.

This one is a complete bottle and dummy refuser and I can’t leave her to cio as she’ll wake the other two....I’m stuck this time!!!

clareth · 14/05/2018 15:49

But still hopeful something ‘clicks’ in a few months...!

DoubleRamsey · 14/05/2018 21:15

So after doing CC she only woke 4 times all night (which is huge for us!) and she went to sleep in 10 mins this evening!

clareth · 14/05/2018 21:51

That’s brilliant. It’s so lovely when you get a bit of a breakthrough. I’m hoping for ours too, although it will be a miracle if she does, I’m hopeful as she gets older, she gets it. Although I’ve already been up twice tonight so it won’t be anytime soon Sad I’m holding out for 12 months 🤞🏻

DoubleRamsey · 15/05/2018 00:00

Well it was a fluke apparently. She has been awake an hour and won't settle! :(

She has teeth halfway out so I'm not sure if that's bothering her. Going to try calpol and feeding to sleep and hope for the best

NoseTitZilla · 15/05/2018 01:07

I got DD to sleep easily too then 45 minutes later, she was up for 3 hours. We had to do bonjela, calpol and Neurofen in the end. For us it's teeth Sad i hope your DD has settled for you.

Pebblespony · 15/05/2018 18:04

We did 40 mins of cc last night. She was really roaring, thought she was going to be sick. She wore herself out though & woke up over an hour later than usual this morning. We've been using her as an alarm recently so everyone got going late.
