Baby sleeping ok....me on the other hand?!

Is anyone else suffering with some form of insomnia?
My 6 week old is sleeping from 8pm-7am with 2 night feeds, both lasting about half an hour and hes straight off back to sleep. He tends to feed around midnight/1ish and around 4am. After the first feed I just can’t get back to sleep. I literally lie there awake until his next feed. I may drop off after the 4am but it will take me a good hour, meaning I’m falling asleep at 5.30 ish, and my toddler gets up st 6.15am without fail. I’ve been going to bed at 8 after he’s fallen asleep and have no problems dropping off, so I’m getting around 4ish hours. I’m so tired during the day so I’m annoyed at myself that I can’t sleep at night. My partner does help with a night feed once or twice a week and I sleep right through til 4am. But he works every day so I don’t expect any more help from him.
My baby is generally a VERY loud sleeper, he’s had congestion since birth and has a lot of wind, so although he sleeps well is very fidgety and I think it’s maybe partly why I can’t get back to sleep again. But I have always been a very light sleeper.
Are there any tips for helping me get back off to sleep and please tell me I’m not the only one?!

If you are bottle feeding then when your husband is on night feed duty (which should be minimum twice a week when he doesn’t have work the next day) then take yourself off to the spare room or put ear plugs in so the baby noises don’t disturb you. If you are breast feeding then as above but DH brings you the baby for feeds, then takes baby away again to settle whilst you go back to sleep.

I’m breastfeeding and on the nights OH does the feed he gives bottle of expressed milk. He works mon-fri so will only have him on a Friday and Saturday night. On these nights I do exactly what you said and go off to the spare room and generally sleep between 8.30-4am when OH brings him in for his second feed. I Also wear ear plugs and have white noise playing but he is honestly that loud I can hear him above that. I’m just at my wits end. :/ thanks for your help though x

If it helps I do feel your pain! My DD was so noisy at that age too but I did have success with ear plugs on week nights (DH would nudge me when she was crying) and the spare room (weekends). We were very lucky and she started sleeping through from an 11pm dreamfeed to 7am at around 8 weeks although her grunting and baby noises meant I was still woken several times a night if I skipped the ear plugs. She’s now 10 months and in her own room but still more often than not wakes me over the monitor!! In time I’ve got better at going back to sleep though. So sorry no more advice but just wanted you to know you’re not the only one!
