Spacesaver cot/ Babymoov cosydream/ sleepyhead/ swaddling....HELP!

Hi,

I'm a FTM and our LB is due in July so we are obviously busy preparing/ majorly panicking!

We will be living in a one bed flat until he is approx 8 months so have planned on getting a space saving cot positioned next to our bed for when we come home from hospital. I don't want to buy a Moses basket/crib that he will grow out of to buy a space saver cot, to then buy a cot bed when we move and he as his own room. The small cot (for up until he's 12 months) seemed the best solution to me.

I am planning on trying to swaddle him so he feels secure but I am also wondering whether to get him a Babymoov cosydream/sleephead to put in the cot?

Some people have said to me that having him in the small cot next to my bed from birth is fine, others look at me like I'm an evil mum because he'll find the space too much and will panic!

Do you think a small cot, swaddling and a cosydream/sleepyhead will be ok?

I have no idea what I'm doing or if it's the right thing!! HELP!
Thanks!

In all honesty you won’t know untill your baby comes. They are all so different. What one likes the other may not sleep in at all 😂

From my experience with DS (11 months)- we originally had a next to me cot with a sleepyhead untill 6 months ish then he went into his own room in the sleepyhead and we used this untill just under 10 months. We only bought the sleepyhead at about 4 weeks old because we thought it would help. He was swaddled in the sleepyhead until about 4 months aswell. If you plan on using a sleepyhead then baby will be nice and snug in there so having all the extra space around won’t be an issue ☺️

I don't think you will know until baby arrives, they are all so different! My first was fine in a moses basket then crib then cot. Second would only sleep in someone's arms until I got a sleepyhead, which she sleeps in happily! I am a bit worried about transitioning her out of it when the time comes but for now it is the best thing I've ever purchased Smile

I second what PPs said. All babies are different. DD (4 months) is a wriggler and was never a fan of swaddling! She’s been in her Next 2 Me since about 2 wks old. It’s a good first crib.

The best thing to do is get the bare minimum before baby arrives and then you can try products if the baby is unsettled etc. My friend swore by Ewan the Dream Sheep but it does nothing for DD.

We signed up to Amazon Prime just after DD arrived, for the next day delivery and boxsets for the feeding sessions!
