whale impressions at night- can't sleep

So my 15 week baby is in a gro bag. From about 2.45 until 4.10 (when I decided to feed him) he was doing his whale impressions and banging both legs down on his cot. He has done this from about 10 weeks, but some nights are worse than others.

The last two nights have been a nightmare as he's keeping me awake as well as himself! It's fairly constant and when I put him back after a feed it sometimes starts again.
Anyone know why they do this? How long it will last? And any methods to stop it?
It would be funny and cute if I wasn't so tired!

I’m not sure if mine grew out of it or if the extra tummy time I gave during the day to get rid of any wind, I think they do it for that reason but I could never get many burps up it was all down the other end. I can’t remember how long it lasted for I think at about 4 months it had settled down, then of course a growth spurt put a stop to sleep after that too Wink it does get better and it won’t last forever it will pass

Dd2 was a right wriggler she wouldn't sleep on her back and even in grow bags shed squirm all the way ifbthe cotband wake us all up banging her head on the bars.

What worked was to tuck the end of the gro bag under the mattress so she couldn't move. ..but that only works woth the branded bro bags and they are massively long. Not sure the supermarket ones are big enough to do that

I was wondering if wind... my baby too does not burp much and tends to squeeze farts out instead! He doesn't pooh at night now, saves it up for a big explosion in the morning. But the whale impressions did stop eventually and no wind was released?!
