At what age should you buy your dc a bed?

My dd is always frightened in her crib. I have to put her in when she has no fight left and just goes to sleep else she's in our bed. She's 10 months old and I'm really considering a toddler bed for her. Bad idea?

What about a mattress on the floor for a bit?

Would that be better for her? She can roll over etc but can't quite her herself up off the floor properly yet to the standing position. Nor can she sit up

I put my 13mo on a floor bed a month ago - it's worked brilliantly.

I put my elder DD into a single bed at 16mo but I didn't think DS at 12mo was anywhere near ready for a bed. Too likely to nose dive off! With the floor bed we use foam wedge bed guards under the sheet so he can't roll off. He could crawl if he wanted to but he hasn't yet, plus we have a video monitor on him and I'd go in if he woke up.

Less distance to fall, and more likely to be able to get back into bed if she falls out!
