4.5 month Twins waking screaming at 11pm

HELP!!!!!!

My 4.5 month old twins have always slept ok (1 wake up in 12hours ) and now going through some hideous regression. Thought we were coming out the other side and every night for last 5 nights - one twin will wake screaming the house down at 11pm and wake the other and refuse to be settlers so we feed (they're not that bothered by time half way through bottle) and then they wake at 3-4ish for another feed and when they're up for day at 7 - not bothered by their feed and barely take 3 ounces!!!

I'm so tired it's not funny

What am I doing wrong????

My twins were breastfed so were often up a lot during the night. If I knew a particular time was a screaming session, I would try and dream feed them to keep them in their sleep cycle. Could you try something like that?

Sounds like the 4 month sleep regression unfortunately. It’s totally normal and will pass eventually. You’re not don’t anything wrong at all, and they are still so little.

Feels like it's been going on for weeks and absolutely everyone has decided to tell me their little one sleeps through 😡

Why do people get so competitive about sleep?!!! It's killing me!

No way of knowing really. Each baby is different but it will pass and it will get eaiser.

I know it’s beyond annoying. It’s actually part of the reasons I don’t go to baby groups. As a general rule I do not discuss DS sleep with anyone else, and I make it clear they are not to ask me. Even when we are having good spells. Try not to listen to what others say, as hard as it is. I have a friend who’s baby slept amazing since birth, through the night totally at 4 months; she hit 2 and it’s all gone to pot- it swings in round abouts.

I’ve found the best way to cope is just to lower my expectations. Just because my DS almost sleeps through one night doesn’t mean he will the next night, week or month. Baby sleep isn’t linear in the first years- it goes up and down because there’s so many things that can effect it.

Be kind to yourself, you’re looking after 2 babies and are a total rockstar for that alone.

I am in awe of anybody who has twins. I just don't even know how you get through the day.
I have no advice I'm sorry, but it does pass. Do they nap okay in the day?
How do they go to sleep - are you rocking them etc?
Perhaps they wake and are scared because you aren't there anymore.
Loads of reasons. Sorry I can't help. I just wanted to say that you are amazing for being a twin mum. Everything you are doing I'm sure will be fine.

I don't have twins but I do have a 4.5 month old who is doing the same and more. I am so tired with just the one so hats off to you.

He Just. Will. Not. Sleep

He's not my first so I know I should know this but oh my when does it end, 8 times he was up last night. DH is away for a week with work and I'm so jealous. I feel like the kids have been tag teaming me with eldest screeching mummy from his bed whilst I'm trying to settle the baby for the millionth time in the evening.

Baby also has three teeth coming so I know it's teething and regression and what not but oh my when will it stop?!

I definitely have zero expectations and as you say try to not to expect the same pattern just because he's done it one night. It just feels so all consuming with no recovery in between. And OP even less with you with two of the beautiful beggars.

I've joined back at the playgroup I took my eldest to a few years ago and apparently one of the ladies there has two sets of twin boys two years apart. I'm in awe

I too am in awe of multiple mums. I remember when DS was newborn (he was a very difficult unsettled baby untill 4/5 months) saying to DP I don’t know how couples with two cope.

2 sets of twins???? She must be one strong mama!

She also has another single so 5 kiddos!

@Impatientwino The buggers actually slept last night!!!!!! Obviously not the whole way through but I was only up once which feels like I've had a holiday!!! I've just bought a white noise machine to try and stop them waking each other so maybe that helped? Or I did the last feed of the day as hungry milk. How was your night last night?

More than likely it was a fluke and nothing made any difference but never mind!!!

Twins is bloody tough - I'm def not one of those mums who's like ohhhh it's not too bad and ohhh my babies sleep well - it really is tough from time to time (most of the time) so to read everything you've written gives me a real boost

Twins are blooming hard work.
I think at that age mine would still disturb each other, but from maybe 9/10 months not so much. They are 16 months now and one can be really going for it and the other ignores them and carries on sleeping.
Everything is a phase, we tell ourselves that so much. And we'll sleep when we're dead

When they're good they're so scrummy and when they're bad - bloody hell!!!

No advice but you are amazing! My DD hit the 4 month regression and was waking hourly for weeks. It nearly killed me and I only have one baby!!!!

One thing I’ve learnt from these threads and my baby, is that sleep isn’t linear - it is SO up and down, particularly in the first year!

Just keep plodding on...

Ours generally sleep ok now, but to be honest when we go to bed we have no idea what sort of night we'll have!
Just when you think you've cracked it something else will happen, colds, teething, conjunctivitis...

But there is nothing quite like two beautiful toddlers both trying to squish themselves onto your lap at the same time for a cuddle, and hearing them giggling at each other is heavenly

I've got to say they lay next to each other this morning and looked each other and giggled for the first time and it did make everything abit better!!!

Or maybe that was the sleep I got last night 😂
