Ds (3.2years) starting to wake up over night, help needed

Ds goes to sleep at abouthalf seven and eight, and generally goes to sleep really well.
However, for a couple of nights, he is waking up about 1am, and not going back to sleep until 5am(ish). I'm really tied. We've tried letting him cry, but he wakes dd up (dd is in a differate room),and ends up being sick.

We've tried a drink, leaving a light on etc.
Luckily, it is not every night, but we need some sleep!!

I feel for you. My dd has also started doing this. She became unsettled following a nightmare (she dreamt there was a bee in her gro-bag - has not slept in it since and now uses the duvet - but thats another story!!). Has your ds had a recent nightmare? Is he able to tell you what the matter is? We just rubbed dd's back until she felt calmer and explained that we were only next door. Her new thing waking up crying and asking for a piece of our clothing as comfort. As soon as you give to her she settles back down. Does he have a special toy/comforter that he can sleep with. I don't know if this is much help to you but the above works for us at the moment.
