2.8yr old waking at night and screaming

Please can someone offer me some advice, my little boy has woken the last three nights around 3am screaming saying “nappy nappy” I then change his nappy which is normally dry anyway and it’s obvious that he is about to do a wee. Once he’s changed he settles back down quite quickly an goes to sleep and doesn’t seem to have any problem doing his wee then. I’m not really sure what to do, we haven’t started any potty training other than asking him during the day if he’s done a pooh or if he needs a clean nappy.

Hello, sorry I don’t have any experience in this. Is it possible he is in any pain when he’s about to have a wee?

I don’t think so, he wee’s fine all the rest of the time and then goes when I’ve put the clean nappy on him. Maybe it’s just because he’s becoming more aware of when he’s weeing, but it just seems strange that it’s only in the middle of the night and will happily go when the clean nappy is on him.

Possibly. Like you say he may be more aware and is panicking that he is about to wet himself. Sorry I’m not much help.
Good luck resolving this OP.

I think I may have worked it out looking on the internet, I think it’s because he’s erect and finding it uncomfortable. Lots of people have said on other forums that they start happening around this age, it’s just a shame they are happening in the middle of the night, poor little man Sad

My eldest did this, was fixed almost as soon as he toilet trained - it's a good sign, he was dry through the night almost immediately, unlike my second one, who still very much needs his night nappy nearly 2 years on...

Can anyone offer me any advice? I’ve worked out that my little boy is getting erections in the night and is very distressed and upset I try to reassure him that it’s ok and completely normal but this doesn’t really help and he grabs at his nappy and asks for us to change us. This has happened every night now for about a week an normally around 3am, is there anything we can do? We’re all getting pretty shattered. TIA
