4 Month Sleep Regression

My DD is 4 months old. Up until a couple of weeks ago she would go about 5 hours at night, wake for a feed and resettle for about 3-4 hours. She now goes down, sleeps for about 2.5 hours and then stirs and thrashes about every 1 - 1.5 hours. When I hear her stir I pop her dummy in and sometimes switch on some white noise and she will gradually go back to sleep.
I've read about the 4 month sleep regression. Has anybody got any experience with this? I'm worried about her reliance on her dummy to resettle. She also needs it for naps (although naps well when asleep). Should I be trying to wean her off the dummy? I tried to settle her for a nap yesterday without it, with just calming shhhh's but 20 minutes later she was on the verge of a meltdown and I gave in.
Just looking for advice really.
