Teething 7 month old won't sleep unless attached to me

Experienced mums out there please help! My good little self soothing sleeper is on strike. Her first tooth has just cut through and judging by the way she chews on everything like mad I reckon the others are coming through too. I used to be able to just put her down wide awake and she'd fall asleep sucking her thumb or stroking her teddy. Now she just flips over and wails. Will only sleep attached to my nipple. If deeply asleep I can sometimes get her to roll off and sleep in the bed next to me which means babydaddy is back on the couch and I'm sleeping like a nervous wreck worried I'll crush or suffocate her. What do I do to a get through this so everyone gets sleep and b without undoing all my hard sleep training?

Can you cosleep or sidecar her cot to get through the worst of it? Look up safe cosleeping it's perfectly fine if done properly. She's telling you she needs you right now.

Could you give a dummy to suck instead of a nipple?

I usually have a 'ladder' of comforting mechanisms. So all being well, baby may settle independantly with dummy. But then at times when extra comforting is needed (If over tired, if ill, if in pain) then I have an increasing array of ways to give comfort in an independant way. For example

  • dummy in, reinserts if needed.
  • dummy in, my hand on baby chest, wait, walk away once asleep (and expect more wake ups than normal)
  • dummy in, hand on chest, head bent down close to baby's with eye contact and reassuring shushing.
  • dummy in, one hand on chest, head close to baby's, shush, pat, other hand on legs or holding hands or stroking face
