is there a knack to it? DD2 is only 4 weeks old and reaching in and out is giving me gyp already.

know what you mean. that is the real down side to them.

I kind of lunge on one knee. It's flippin' hard though.

ProfYaffle · 28/03/2007 16:57

dh does that but his legs are longer than mine! don't know we'll get on when she's 6 mo. fab other than that though, dd2 slept 10hrs with one 10 min bf break last night.

10 hours! That sounds good.

Don't think we're close to achieving that, and DD2 is 5 months.

ProfYaffle · 28/03/2007 18:47

yeah, pity dd1 didn't sleep as well

ive got one of these and 6wk old ds but can' tell if he likes it or not he often lies there clearing his throat and i worry that the position is affecting his breathing or something -he only sleeps couple of hours at atime between feeds in it but hed prob do this anyway at this stage -how did you all get on with sleep patterns in hammocks? when did los start sleeping longer?

abidabidoo · 31/03/2007 19:53

I kind of crouched with bent knees, shuffled forwards so my knees pushed the swinging hammocky bit back, and importantly up, so that I could put the baby in while it was at an angle. Never used the zippy thing.

Does that make sense? Makes me glad she's grown out of it now!

Sorry to kind of hijack your thread ProfYaffle but I've just bought one for my first bean due end of May. What do you guys use for bedding in the Hammocks and what do you dress your LO's in? All I have are 2 of the fitted sheets and not sure what else to get....thanks

ProfYaffle · 06/04/2007 10:25

Might have a go at that abidabidoo. Vmama, I'm kind of similar with dd2, she's 6 weeks today and initially the movement seemed to freak her out a bit. She then went through a phase of seeming to love it and sleeping really well but now she's waking up earlier in the mornings.

I am very lucky though and she will usually sleep 3 or 4 hrs at a stretch, sometimes even 5 or 6 Up until a few days ago she would sleep 10 - 12hrs, waking twice for a 10 min bf.

The trouble is, it's impossible to know what's down to the hammock and what they would be doing at this stage anyway. dd1 also slept well but not quite this well! Is that down to the hammock? Not really sure.
