looks like a sheep skin rug, you know the thing. Tell me it'll solve all my problems and that it'll be the best £45 i'll ever spend.

Depends what your problems are

gingerninja · 20/03/2007 13:53

In a nutsell, 6 month DD won't stay asleep at night. Sometimes she feeds other times just wakes a dozen times for no obvious reason.

Do you cuddle/feed her to sleep?

gingerninja · 20/03/2007 14:13

Sometimes, sometimes she'll go to sleep on her own. She's unpredictable

We sell them in my shop an they are fantastic!! They keep baby cool in summer and warm in winter. The ones we sell can be machine washed and are adapted so they can be tumble dried too. My two have LOVED sleeping on them and I could recommend them more highly - I used mine all the time when they were newborn (in the pram / cot / crib / floor / garden etc etc) They both slept like angels on them - Fabulous! Could get you one for £48 (inc P&P) if you are interested??

gingerninja · 20/03/2007 15:06

Have you got a website Dippy?

Also, would you recommend short or long hair?

OP posts:
CaptainDippy · 20/03/2007 15:33

Ours are short hair. Look at www.lammfelle.de (there's an English option on there ) to see the sheepskins we sell.

Whoooosh · 20/03/2007 15:40

I put dd on one of these from the day I brought her home from hospital. They are so comfy and snuggly,I swear that it contributed to dd being happy in her cot and sleeping through the night at 12 weeks 7 till 7.
It was a sad day when she just outgrew it but it is now a rug on her floor for her teddies.
I would have no hesitation.

Ginger: there has been some discussion on links betw sheepskins and cot death: if you look at the SIDS guidelines they're not recommended . Being an ultra paranoid 1st time mum, I ditched ours, but I know lots of people use them so...

Also on the Magic Product to Make Babay Sleep search - got one of these . Wasn't as expensive as that - think they also sell that at Kiddicare. Anyway, ultra warm sleeping bag with sleeves - cost me £48 but if it means he sleeps any better...

Swizzler · 20/03/2007 15:46

Link on SIDS here

princessmel · 20/03/2007 15:46

My son had one in his moses basket from 6 weeks. He wouldn't sleep in it before that. The one I have is from John lewis.

princessmel · 20/03/2007 15:47

In fact he sometimes sleeps with it in bed now and he's 4.

Piffle · 20/03/2007 15:49

I swear by them
keep em banged for dust though, a regular beating

I found a pram one in tk maxx last week for £12 down from £40, might be worth a look.

Swizzler · 20/03/2007 15:51

Organic ones are also supposed to be better (something to do with arsenic levels IIRC)

CODalmighty · 20/03/2007 15:51

i had one as long ago as 1998

CaptainDippy · 20/03/2007 16:29

Gosh - that is a long time ago.

CODalmighty · 20/03/2007 17:25

my ds 1 who is .5yrs old still hasto have a sheepskin to get to sleep, he has bits cut up now that he takes around with him

I olut him to sleep on it as a very small baby and at about 4 months tried to wean him off it, but never could

zephyrcat · 20/03/2007 21:12

I had a winganna one from John Lewis for dd and ds and we all loved it! You can buy special shampoo for them and stick them in the washing machine and they stay soft. I sold it to someone on here I think but I must get another one for dd2, they are fab.

CaptainDippy · 21/03/2007 11:51

Don't forget my offer ninja!!

gingerninja · 21/03/2007 13:34

Dippy, thanks for the offer. I was thinking of buying from Spirit of Nature because I need to get some other stuff too. If your shop has a website let me know and I'll do a price comparison. Thanks again

I think the link with SIDS is because they can overheat. They recommend putting it under the sheet until baby is 1 yr old. Therefore short haired may be better, My ds loves his and has his daytime naps on it, with head on a muslin to stop eating the fur! My sister had one when she was little (and she is 25 today!!!!). The great thing is you can cut bits off as a comforter as they get older as someone said earlier. They do one in JoJo too approx £40.

CaptainDippy · 21/03/2007 20:03

Unfotunately, my shop's website is a bit crap ; but can do £48 (inc P&P) as a price guide ...
