Crawling and Sleep don't Mix

My 6 month old daughter is starting to crawl, mainly slowly and backwards ;)

She use to be a fairly good sleeper at night just up a ciuple of times to potty/nurse and back to sleep and we had varying napping success between two proper naps to one short one.

Now she is moving she can't sleep. She moves into crawling position and then wails to me to turn her on her back again and she keeps repeating it. She even wakes up at 2am in a crawl position, is she moving in her sleep?

If I put her sleeping sack on her legs get tangled up. If I just use a sheet, she crawls backwards until her little legs are hanging out of the cot.

She is getting more upset and I spend 99% of my time running upstairs to rescue her

What should I be doing or not doing ?

sleeping bag

thin sheet tucked in the sides over it

towels rolled up and wedged at sides

does she not go to sleep on her tummy?

What kind/size of towels?

Yes, eventually she goes to sleep on her tummy at night to my horror when I wake up in the morning but that makes me feel bad, I thought babies HAD to sleep on their backs, re sids and all that ?

She is on her tummy asleep now, I'm watching her closely on the baby monitor screen in case she covers her mouth.

Am I just doing the PFB bit, or something ?

well all I can say is that all mine slept on their tummies

they slept brilliantly like that

I DID worry a bit at first but actively put dd3 on her tummy when she was born

She had a lovely tummy nap and woke up hanging out of the cot, so we'll try the towel/sheet/sackmethod later.
