Any tips on getting my DS2 to sleep in the pram?

The pram is reasonable quality, reasonably flat. He's 2. I need him to nap in the pram, and lately he's been doing it. I am happy to keep walking, but having a hard time getting him to fall asleep, sometimes.

I make sure he's warm, well-fed, and ideally, in the dark. I waver between trying to ignore him shouting at me (walking fast), and trying to talk to him and calm him down.

Two? maybe he doesn't need a sleep any more? My dd who is two does go to sleep in her pushchair when really, really knackered, but never for very long.

why do you need him to nap in the pram?

is he used to napping in his cot?

will he def be tired when you want him to nap?

Well, he just turned two in September. We did go without the nap for a couple of weeks, but it wasn't working very well (he wasn't really getting the extra nighttime sleep to make up for the lack of a nap).

He got ill over half term and went back to having a nap, and it seemed to work.

I need him to nap in the pram because I have an afternoon nightmare schedule, and a pram nap suits. I pick him up at 1:15-1:30, and I have to be at DS1's school for 3:20. If he has a pram nap, that works, but a cot nap means I have to wake him and shove him on the bike. And then he howls (I should know, he did it from September to February. )

And anyway, now, he's refusing to sleep in the cot. He had pram naps, both weekend days - DH is happy to go for a long walk, and he sleeps well when DH takes him out ... I suspect DH is hardier about ignoring howling?

My dd was two in Feb, and quite often doesn't have any daytime sleep. She's never slept in a cot or bed during the day. Just refuses.

Oh, it's still feb! I meant earlier this month.

Well, they are all different. When he dropped his afternoon nap, he ended up with less sleep than DS1 (who is three years older!). That did not seem right to me.

Anyway, a pram nap means he can keep sleeping longer, and gives me some more flexibility, in some ways - at least, I can do swapsies with other mums, and pick up extra kids, which wasn't an option with the cot nap.

Today, I think I missed the window for him falling asleep easily, and messed him about too much (came home to drop things off/pick things up), so he just got furious with me.

He did eventually fall asleep, but woke after 45 minutes or so, really pissed off.
