Hi everyone,

I'm a new parent and I have a 6 week old son called Arlo Smile

He is formula fed and he feeds every 4 hours 5 ounces. To be more precise I have got him in a routine and he feeds at 12,4 and 8 everyday.

In the evening I feed him at 8 and then wake him at 12:00pm for his feed recently he has started waking up at 5:30am - 6:30am and then again at 9:30am I'm not sure if I should continue for the rest of the day feeding him 4 hours after to that or still stick to the routine of 12,4 and 8.

Every night time is different and I would like to keep him as close to a routine if possible.

I would love to know what you think as a new Mum I'm unsure x

Thank you xx

so set an alarm and get baby up at a regular time, if not already awake. Say 7am.

I had 2 incredibly easy babies. They slept well, fed well (which was good because i exclusively expressed for both for almost a year and it could have been hellish) and interacted as you'd expect. We bedshared (they never had Moses baskets) and followed the fourth trimester principles. If they were tired they slept, hungry they fed etc. People thought it amazing that they would sleep until 10 or 11am (and still do in the holidays) and were happy to have evenings/nights out as they wouldn't go to sleep until midnight when tiny. As I say, that suited us.

I have never woken either before 7:30am unless we were getting on a plane. In fact, the nurse that suggested i wake and try to feed DD at 5am less than 24 hours after a pretty traumatic forceps delivery was given short shrift.

Cave people didn't need Gina bloody Ford so neither did we!

7am was only an arbitrary time. It could just as easily be 8am, 9am, 10am - whatever works.

MollieHodgson if you want predictability, regulating get-up time would be a good place to start.

Why are you get het-up about Gina Ford HeCantBeSerious? This isn't a thread about Gina Ford. It's a thread about Arlo, MollieHodgson's son.
