Honest advice please!!! My DD 3.3 was always a really good sleeper until Xmas time when she started waking every night at about 12pm until maybe 4am sometimes. I have tried all the techniques, CC, retreating etc. I think she is forming a habit and I am at my wits end. I spoke to a friend whos DS did the same and she gave him Phenagan when she saw the night being a long one. Said this broke the pattern he had formed and he sleeps well again. I am not thinking of using every night, sometimes she just wants reassurance and goes back to sleep quickly. It would be for the long nights. I have a DS 21mths and I am so exhausted during the day that they are both suffering as I am short tempered and not up to doing much. I do try and keep them busy during the day and I am not letting her nap in the day. I am desperate and I feel like I have tried everything else. I accept this is a phase but it is taking too long to pass and I am losing it!! What do you think I should do?

Hi macb

I don't have any as old as yours but my Sister does and she had the same with both of hers. The Doctor prescribed a sedative in the end but she rarely used it because she felt she was being a bad Mum too.

IMO you have to do what is right for you. Go to the Dr and have a chat, if poss speak to one you know is also a Parent of young Children I find they are more in touch! If it comes to it and that is what you have to do in the short term then try not to beat yourself up!

One thought - my Nephew is nearly 4 and somedays still needs a Short nap at Lunchtime, this stops him being overtired. Have you tried this?

Good Luck!

Thanks ruth2007. This medicine I am thinking of is meant to be for travel sickness, the idea of formally giving her a sedative worries me. Sounds silly I know. If she has a nap during the day (even a short one) she won't go to sleep until 8 or 9. It's bad enough being up half the nightlet alone not even getting an evening to myself!
