11 month old waking for the day at 4am - help!

So this is the 4th day in a row that Ds has woken between 3:30/4 and not gone back to sleep before 6 (which is when I have to be up). Before that we had a couple of nights of waking from 12-3:30. Is this a phase? Do we ride it out? We've tried everything to get him back to sleep (feeding/not feeding/water/calpol/dummy/leaving for a bit/going in as soon as wakes/placing hand on his back/cuddle to sleep/not picking him up) and it always ends with him in our bed kicking and pulling at us while we try to doze. He's never been a great sleeper but we recently started to get some longer stretches from him and a few sleep throughs. He naps twice a day, 1st a few hours after waking for about an hour, 2nd in afternoon for about an hour again. Id appreciate any advice, we're so knackered and it is impacting on my work performance now.

I'd have a cot in my room, be there for reassurance (reaching into cot from my bed while still dozing) and aside from that leave baby to it in the cot.

I suspect what makes this hard for you is getting up and resetting. You don't have to do that if the cot is still in your room.

I moved cot out of my room once reliably skedpibg through. Rather that than developing the habit of bringing unsettled child into our bed half way through the night.
