My son is nearly 6 months old and for the last 3 weeks he has started to consume only around 20oz of formula during his waking hours, choosing to have his remaining 12oz across 2 feedings at night: I really hope this is just a phase.
I just wondered something; for his second night feed he often wakes up at about 5am. Once I have fed him, I put him back down in the cot (to self-settle) and then we sleep up to about 7.30- 8am, which is a god send for me. But is this encouraging his early waking pattern because he knows he can catch up on his sleep straight after his milk? Is it better that we "wake up" for the day at 5ambafter he has his milk? If it will help long term I will try it! (Needs must!)
Also I tried to wean him off the milk last night by reducing his 2nd feed (5am) by 1oz, however he screamed blue murder for the final oz so I gave in. I am wondering if it's because the bottle had 6 oz in there and I took the teat out with an oz remaining in there, so did he know he wasn't quite finished, should I have only put 5oz in the bottle in the first place? Sorry for the thick question!!
