This is following on from a thread I posted on Allergies about seeing a peadiatric specialist for my 5.5 year old. Turns out not to be asthma, but rather lung inflamation.
Anyway, he totally dismissed my description of my son's extreme exhaustion (and I mean so extreme that he will lay in the middle of the flor where ever we happen to be as he is so tired) as normal because in his opinion all children up to the age of about 10 need daytime naps.
I was so annoyed at this, but want to see if anyone else agrees with him. My son does 11-12 hours per night (admittedly somewhat broken by coughing which contributes to tiredess) and has not been having daytime lseeps since he was about 3.5.
I really don't know any other children above 4 who sleep in the day.
I have sent my son off now for a rest on his bed, but I doubt he will sleep. And if he does, I am dreading waking him up as he will be so moody and it will likely mean a later bedtime tonight.
Please tell me my doctor is not right!
