Would anyone like to answer the below questions for me please? Just to get an idea of range of "normalness". Hoping to make folk feel better if your baby is not following the textbooks!!

How old is baby?
How many naps a day?
How long are naps?
Are they sleeping through night?
How many night feeds?

4 months, about three naps (anywhere between 20 mins and 2 hours), sleeps about 8pm to 7.30am with no wake ups unless ill/growth spurt.

Brown76 · 21/08/2016 23:06

-25 Months
-1 nap

  • 2 hrs-ish
  • sleeps 8-6 (10 hours), usually wakes fully once and calls for water/dummy/cuddle/to get out of cot and into our bed and then other times for dummy which he finds himself and goes back to sleep (waking me up in the process as we room share).
  • No night feeds since 9 months but has a drink of water
Stylingwax · 21/08/2016 23:15

7 months
2/3 naps of 20/30 mins each (though today napped for total of 25 minutes....)
Bed 8-12 (with a couple of resettles), wakes 12ish for a feed and I bring her in with us for rest of night till 7ish, usually stirs once or twice

FS84 · 22/08/2016 09:13

How old is baby? 5 months
How many naps a day? 4/5
How long are naps? Usually one 90 minutes and the rest 45 minutes
Are they sleeping through night? 8/9-6/7 with lots of wakings - hourly or 2 hourly
How many night feeds? 1 or 2. Comfort sucks back to sleep at other wakings

awfulpersonme · 22/08/2016 09:15

How old is baby? 5 months
How many naps a day? 3-4 depending on when he wakes up
How long are naps? On a good day 2-3 longer ones and one short one. But they're all over the place.
Are they sleeping through night? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
How many night feeds? At least 3.

MYA2016 · 22/08/2016 10:22

7 months
2 naps a day - 1/2 hours each
Been sleeping through the night for around 2 weeks (7.30 pm - 6.30 am)
No night feeds

golfmonkey · 22/08/2016 16:31

20 months, 1 nap 1-2hrs, sleeps through 7.30-5.30 most nights, no feeds

4 months, 4-6 naps, 20mins to 1.5 hrs but usually 20-40mins. Sleeps 7-6 but wakes for 3-4 feeds in that time (after 3am I get lazy and bring her in to bed as so shattered ). I am one tired mama, good thread idea though!

Squaffle · 22/08/2016 20:00

Sparrowlegs248 · 23/08/2016 19:07

13 months
Naps twice a day
30 - 60 minutes. Occasional much longer nap when he's with Mil ffs
Sleep 7-7.30 ish to 5-6 ish. One or two night feeds/wakings.

Fwiw ds has always slept and napped less than most, wouldn't be put down, wouldn't sleep in moses basket etc things are steadily improving.

Coconut0il · 23/08/2016 23:00

12 months

Either one longer nap, about 2 hours or 2 shorter 40 minute ones.

Co sleeping, sometimes sleeps through, sometimes wakes 1/2 times. Always feed back to sleep. Normally wakes for day after 10 hours.

scrumptiouscrumpets · 26/08/2016 14:45

20 months
One nap, 1 - 2.5 hours max.
Sleeps through about 50% of nights, currently teething and therefore waking most nights and sleeping less in total.
Usually sleeps from 9 pm - 7 am. No night feeds.

SpeakNoWords · 26/08/2016 14:54

How old is baby? 10 weeks
How many naps a day? Not really been keeping track! He sleeps whenever he's tired, maybe 3 to 5 times a day, mainly on me or in the pram.
How long are naps? Maybe 1 to 2 hrs, sometimes longer.
Are they sleeping through night? Depends on your definition. He does a block of 5 hrs, so technically yes. He usually feeds at around 11pm and then not again until around 4.30 to 5 am.
How many night feeds? 2 to 3 at the moment, see above answer.

Answering these questions, I've realised I'm not really keeping track as he just has to fit in around our existing schedule which is planned around his older brother eg nursery run in the morning etc.

TiggeryBear · 26/08/2016 15:13

How old is baby? 5 months (almost 6)
How many naps a day? 3-4
How long are naps? One long one about 2 hours. Others are approx 45 minutes, sometimes 1 hour.
Are they sleeping through night? Yes, sleeps from 8pm-ish through to anywhere between 5:30am - 7am
How many night feeds? None

YellowSquirrel · 26/08/2016 17:23

A fair bit of variation in answers... makes me feel better. I thought we were doing something wrong with our short naps looks like others have similar naps. Smile

This has definitely made me feel better too so thank you for starting this.

OP, DD1 used to have short naps - one sleep cycle exactly and then she would be grumpy when she woke. I spent a week watching her nap (with a book and a cup of tea so no real hardship) and then resettling as soon as she stirred. After a week, she started sleeping for longer. This was around the six month mark.

DD2 also sleeps for one sleep cycle but seems quite happy and refreshed afterwards so I've just worked our routine around it. She's now five months and seems a little more keen on self settling - and she is occasionally sleeping for longer.

I wish you'd added 'bf or ff' to your list of questions. I think that has a bearing.
