Dc3 has always been a shit sleeper. At 9mo I always feed her to sleep and am usually up x3 times a night with her. In this heat she won't go to sleep. So I feed her to sleep. Put her down and she wakes screaming. Usually DH is able to settle her but he's out this eve. She's been howling since 720 now. I've spent the last 45 mins leaning over her cot trying to settle her. She's knackered. My back is killing me. I'm starving. I haven't had a drink since about 5pm. I've got an unbelievable amount of work and domestic admin to do this eve. I'm desperate for a drink. Ffs

Have a 5 minute break, she will be fine. Go and get a drink, have a sit down in another room and compose yourself.

Done. I gave in and fed her and now she's asleep. My eve in tatters again.

I have GOT to do something about her sleep though. I can't even put her down for a daytime nap (something she does happily with CM). It's my fault - she always gone to sleep with boob in mouth.

I share ur pain. Feel like we're at breaking point here. My 8 month old has been screaming since 7pm. Husband and I have had yet another argument and Dd is still not asleep. Left Dh to deal with it and I guess I'll do the night shift which is every fucking 90 mins -2hrs and has been since she was born.
Also need to do something but wtf...
Sorry, no help. Just know how shite it is. I'm at breaking point but that still doesn't get the baby to sleep! Fingers crossed for your night improving after such a crap start :-)

Is she 9 months now? Is it something like a sleep regression? I never believed in them really, all mine are average sleepers (never through the night, but generally ok) but since dc3 has turned 9 months a few weeks ago he is literally a sleep monster. He'll have a 20 minute nap at 6.40 pm and be awake till midnight, sleep terribly all day and wake 3-6 times each night. But, from watching him closely in the day at the same time he's starting cruising, lets go, waves bye bye, climbs the stairs, and has invented about 3 words for stuff - all new in the last 2 weeks. So it's no wonder he can't sleep really! I think during the heat we're just accepting he's not going to settle himself and he's currently exhausting himself batting a balloon around the lounge. Once the heat wave ends we will go back to trying to get him to self settle and see if he's over the 'leap'. This is the worst sleep we've had with this baby so far so I totally feel your pain op!

Op, your baby will sleep eventually. They almost always do. Things are tough now, but they won't be forever. Just keep doing what she needs and when she's a bit bigger you can do a sleep trading method yourself (without a 'consultant' ) that will help you.

Could you get someone else to do the night shift with her for a few days so it breaks the habit of expecting feeding to sleep? It sounds brutal, but you need your sleep too.

DH has been working from home for the last few weeks, and so doing more childcare. I'd hoped that would shift things a bit, but no.

Yes, possibly sleep regression. I am a bit worried that with this last child is going to b the one that will be waking two hourly until she's 9. .

I think sleep 'training' is as much about giving them confidence that they're ok, as it is about just forcing them not to cry. I think she's a bit 'separation-anxiety-ie' too. It'll pass.

It's horribly hot tonight OP - I wouldn't judge her sleep on tonight or the last few nights. It should be a bit cooler tomorrow and hopefully she will settle better then.

As others have said, it's a really tough phase but it will pass.

Have you tried giving water? It's so hot right now I don't think it hurts to offer water at night. I was giving my EBF baby water by 9 months old. He would be quite thirsty at night.

Have you tried you tube for some plinky-plonky baby sleep music? I was a total sceptic but now With demon sleeper I will go upstairs when he wakes and sit in the chair with him til he nods back off listening to the music. Not sure who it's for really, him or me!! But he seems massively over stimulated so he sleep for 30 mins, wakes up and stands up immediately, becomes instantly hysterical and wide awake. It seems to calm him quite quickly.

Still feed DS2 to sleep at 11 months. Quick and easy. I understand that's not for everyone but they do grow out of it eventually.

No advice as in similar situation but just want you to know you're not alone even tho it feels like all your friend's babies sleep 7-7!!
