HELP!

Over last 2 weeks dd has been right PITA. Trying not to nap at all in day. Is very very tired, but refusing to go to sleep.

She waves arms and legs around, giggling hysterically which then turns into grizzling. I was wrapping her at first when this started, which seemed to work, but now she screams loudly non-stop until I unwrap her.

It gets worse and worse as day goes on. Eg woke from afternoon nap about 3/4 hour early (often does this . Grizzled until I put her back to bed after her tea, about 2 hours later.

Then screamed for nearly 2 hours whilst I tried to get her to sleep. Rubbing eyes, crying, everything, but still giggling hysterically (I know this is overtiredness)
Finally screamed herself to sleep.

Tried a) leaving her to cry: Wouldn't stop screaming
b) sitting with her: queue hysterical giggling
c) rocking her: more screaming.

Taking her out in pram doesn't work as she won't nap in pram. She seems to have learnt how to keep herself awake FFS.

Any advice anyone?

Have also tried all stuff like lullabies, calming her before naps, ALL baby gurus, and she still carries on. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease help meeeeeeeee!

What time does she get up? What time do you try putting her down for naps?

fizzbuzz · 23/01/2007 21:27

She gets up at about 8.00am.

9.30 3/4 hour nap

12.30 2-2 1/2 hour nap

4.45-5.15 pm short nap about 1/2 hour.

Bed at 7.30.

However she laughs in the face of this, and fights every sleep. AND as she is so tired, takes about an hour to settle at bedtime

have you tried a bath? that could make her more sleepy.
is she very mobile? DS naps better if he's been rolling and playing on the floor.

DS is 7 months and he only has 2-3 short 1/2 hour naps. i'd love him to still have 2 1/2 hours naps.

Baths seem to wake her up, God Forbid. She does lots of wriggling and curving backwards into a crescent shape, and has rolled a few times.

But physically I think she is quite lazy (like me) or possibly too tired

She actually seems to need more sleep than average baby, gets it off dh.

At one point she was sleeping 14 hours at night

I was going to say that maybe she doesnt need all these naps but Ive assumed that she is an older baby. How old is she?

Thanks for post. She is 7 months old, and has slept ALL day yesterday, and today. Completely random child, I give up!
