19 month old toddler waking at 4am.....

dd has for the last 2 weeks been waking at 4am each morning. She doesn't cry BUT turns on her cot music. We leave her as if we dare enter her room she gets excited then goes balistic when we go to leave as she wants up and to play....

We thought she was hungry but have been filling her up during the day so it can't be this esp as when we leave her she goes off to sleep...Sometimes if she cries its because she wants a drink..BUT what can the reason be as to why she is suddenly waking at 4am but content to entertain herself...???

lots of children do this - you are very lucky she will settle herself back down again and I would absolutely advise not going in to her. My in laws said DH used to wake at 4 am every morning and sing nursery rhymes to himself for about 30 mins (glad he's stopped now....) and my DS2 does exactly the same as your DD - if we go to the loo in the night and it wakes him, just after the flush, you can hear the cot music being turned on. She may well stop in a couple of weeks, but most people do wake at some stage in the night, but get better and better at self settling, until you hardly notice it.

We just wondered if it was something we had done/changed but suppose we shouldn't worry ourselves. With a ds2b due in a few weeks maybe she can sense some change.??!

Other than the early wakes she is a brilliant sleeper..7pm-7/8/9am usually so we should count ourselves lucky.
