Is there any reason why a child should have a pillow?

Dh keeps asking me whether we can give 6yo ds1 a pillow yet. I maintain that as ds2 is a stomach sleeper he doesn't need one. He goes to sleep on his side with his head resting on a bear, but I think that that is part of his settling routine, rather than expressing any need for a pillow.

My 15mo has a pillow! Seems to sleep better with it

If he doesn't want one, he doesn't need one. Both DSs asked for one sometime after they turned 2 I think.

Seen on another thread that they are "allowed" one from 12m. I always get a crick in my neck if I sleep without one, but if your ds doesn't and seems happy then s'pose that's fine.

My inlaws in Mexico use pillows from birth. They seem to think that it will help keep the baby elevated in case it vomits in it's sleep. They were horrified when they found out I didn't use one.
