after years of sleep deprivation and early mornings we have finally cracked it, just wanted to share with all you sleep deprived folks.

sat ds1 down and explained that he was old enough to sleep in his own bed and we would not sleep with him anymore. we fitted a timer to a lamp in his room (set to come on at 6.30am) and told him that when the lamp came on he could get up and play quietly but wasn't to come in to us untill we called him.

for every single time he woke us up he would get a toy taken away, after 3 nights he had no toys left(wasn't allowed to watch telly or go on pc either). we didn't take his fave bear or books away. he wasn't allowed any toys back untill he stayed all night in his own bed. got 1 toy back the first night, 2 the 2nd, 3 the 3rd etc etc. if he woke up one night toys were taken away and he had to start again from the beginning.

anyway we are now onto out 8th (!!!!) night of him staying all night in his own bed, i feel human again!!

gosh only just seen this message, my ds2is 4.5 and never stays in his own bed all night, he sneaks into ours around 3 to 5 and we dont even hear him any more, so he is always there in the bloody morning, he says he is lonely and needs company,we have tried the reward system a toy for every night he stayed in his bed, with a special toy wen he did a full wek this worked wonders and he did this within twoweeks then went staright back to the normal routine because as he said " i got all the things now".Will have to try your system i feel.

FF - well done you! you deserve a medal!

We have 3.3 twins DD & DS and we are doing and 'ignoring' approach at the moment and it seems to be the only thing that is working.

I don't know how you have managed 6 years, I'm starting to lose the plot and I only have 3 years worth of sleep deprivation, 3-5 hours sleep a night!
