Hello

Advice required or even just a idea what is causing in. My LO always slept well, never through the night but usually did

9pm -2am feed
2.30. - 6.30 then up for day

I was happy with that, sometimes a extra feed at 5ish but up twice in night was fine by me..

In the last month it's just got worse its every 2 hours he is up now if he sleeps for that long. I put him on breast and he drops off again after 10 minutes or so but I'm always wide awake and then can't sleep. Also previously when he woke up he would just chatter etc and I would wake up now he is waking up crying. It's not full pelt screaming just crying.

In the last month he has got 2 teeth and started solids. Could these be the culprits. Maybe he is in pain. He isn't pulling his knees up. Has anyone else got any experience of this. He never had 4 month sleep regression could it be coming late. i know it's cliche but I'm tired.

Does anyone have a natural idea that might relieve tummy ache that I could try as this might be what's waking him up. His poo is rather firm now and he strains to get it out but Im not sure this is the cause.

Any ideas any at all, please please please

Firstly firm poo when first introducing solids is very normal. Offer plenty of bfs throughout day and bit of water with food. It will change once dcs digestive system gets used to solids.

Sleep changes a lot in the first 2 years. It goes up and down depending on development, teething, illness etc. So what you describe is totally normal. If dc was in pain it's unlikely they would drop back off in 10 mins each time.

Sounds like dc is waking between sleep cycles and struggling to self settle back to sleep. How does dc settle at bedtime? Are you able to put down awake? You could try riding it out to see if it will pass.

Another thing I was wondering about is the number of hours dc is sleeping at night. From your post looks like they are in bed 9pm until 6.30 am. That would only give them around 9 hrs of night sleep. I would be expecting at least 11 to 12 hrs of night sleep at that age (not including feeds). What is day sleep like? Do you think there is any chance overtiredness is having an impact on night sleep?

Hi thanks

Maybe he is over tired he is usually fast asleep for 9 and he mixes being fed to sleep and going to sleep himself. In the day he has around 90 mins nap at 11 am then the afternoon is about 30 mins at 3pm he is very very lively and always on the go.

I hope it passes as I would like to move him to his own room but I dont have the heart to do it until he is sleeping a bit better xx

If dc is only having a nap for 30 mins at 3pm I would definitely look at bringing his bedtime earlier. Currently that means he has an awake time 5.5 hrs which is a lot for a 7.5 month old IME. With a wake up time of 6.30 am I would look at bringing this forward to around 7/7.30pm. You could bring bedtime forward gradually by 30 min increments over a few days to see if it makes a difference.
