6 week old won't sleep in the day

Unless we've been out in the car I can't get DD to sleep for more than 10 minutes during the day, meaning on days we're at home she gets rattier and rattier as the day goes on. The only thing that seems to help is the hairdryer which I have to start up again every time she stirs. I've tried other white noise and nothing works. She's fantastic at night. never any trouble going back to sleep after a feed. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Are you breast feeding? Does she fall asleep on you? This is currently the only reliable way my 6week old sleeps at home. I've been happy enough to do this up to now as I'm enjoying the newborn cuddles. However I'm going to start transferring him to the bouncer with a sleep cue ((probably a small cuddly blanket) whilst asleep and gradually make this happen earlier in the process (ie not yet asleep but still feeding) until he will sleep in it without the feed. It's my first baby so I'm making it up as I go along mind you!

I am breastfeeding and sometimes she will sleep on me but only for 5 minutes or so after a feed. As soon as I try to put her down she's wide awake (and usually grumpy) again! I think we're all making it up as we go along!
