15 month old wants to drop his one nap!

My ds went to one nap a day at about a year old. Somedays he would need two. Now he won't even have one every day, maybe 3 times a week.

Thing is he is not miserable on it, no whinging and whining, he just goes to bed earlier on the days he has no sleep during the day and maybe has an extra half hour in the morning as well.

Yesterday he had no nap and zoomed around all day. Fell fast asleep at 6pm and woke at 7.30 this morning.

I still put him in his cot for his "nap" and he sits up in his grobag and talks for a couple of hours and then I get him up again. So he is having some relaxing time - just no sleep.

I don't think this is a problem as such, I just wondered if anyone else had encountered it?

My dd doesnt always have a nap. Like your ds she'll only have a nap once or twice a week. I think she'd rather just be awake and exploring new things. She's 16 months btw.

toddlerbob, if he's getting such a good sleep at night maybe he doesn't need a nap in the day? My dd has about 11 hours at night so needs to make up a bit extra in the day. She's 19 months. But in total she's probably sleeping the same as your ds and that's what counts.

Dd1 was just as you decribe, Toddlerbob. She stopped daytime sleeping at around a year but I still used to put her in her cot after lunch, where she bimbled around for an hour or so, quite happily chatting away to her toys and the bunnies on her wallpaper. It's quite nice - I wish dd2 had done the same!!
