Advice plse on sleeping away from home

My dd is 14months old and has slept well at home in her cot, in the pram or car seat but she doesn't like sleeping in new places such as grandparents house, hotel room, nursery.
We're off to grandparents house soon and just wondering if anyone had any tips on how to make her more happier to sleep there. I take the same bedding as at home so it smells the same.
Thanks :-)

If its just 1 or 2 nights we've just relaxed and not worried about bedtimes and sleep and accepted that next day we'll have a tired possibly more grumpy child. Its a lot easier than trying to find a solution!
But I will watch in anticipation of someone having a magic solution I can try!

I agree with above. It it's just the odd day to two here and there then just go with the flow regarding sleep and accept that the child may be tired or grumpy, might sleep at odd times for odd lengths of time. But for the short term while away, it's not a big deal to break routine.

To make it feel more like home then same bedding is helpful. Same sleep triggers (dummy, comforter, whatever you use). Keep nap/sleep time as quiet and calm as possible.

I recall my now 5 year old sleeping having his lunchtime nap on the beach when 18 months old. We dug a child sized hole (which was fun to do in itself), made a mattress from folded towels in the hole and he fell asleep in it. I covered the whole thing over with my sarong (to stop sand blowing in his face) and shaded it with the windbreak. He slept like that for 3 (blissful) hours!

Oh dear me! We had a wonderful day out and my dd was impeccably behaved and took her nap easily in her pram. But.. What an awful night! Took a whole to go down to sleep but that was to be expected then woke at midnight and then again at 3am. Daddy couldn't settle her so he put her in bed with me and was was awake the whole time- chatting away.. Really want to go home now!
