Fisher price Seahorse or Ewan the Sheep?

I have a 3.5 year old dd and another on the way. I bought the FP seahorse for my dd when she was about 6 months and it's been great, very soothing and she still uses it every night and during the night herself if she wakes.

I wanted to get another for new baby but I've since read some scary reports of the FP seahorse smoking and burning! Shock

So I was thinking of trying Ewan instead with the new baby but he's twice the price!

Any thoughts?

We have both and 6mo DS adores his Ewan.

Ewan is my 13month old ds's favourite toy. He always gives him a snuggle when he goes to bed!

Lahottiereturns · 22/03/2015 20:59

Tranquil turtle here too! 9 months and still loves it!

Our 2year old still uses Ewan (although that's probably more us than him out of habit!) but it's been a useful aid for us and I would recommend to anyone. I don't have any experience with the others so can only say how much my DS has loved Ewan. Grin

Ewan Ewan Ewan!! We love him, our dd is 2 now and she won't be parted from him at night time. Had him on since she was 2 days old. He has a little Velcro tail thing so he doesn't need to be inside the cot, just attached and now he's on her bedside table for post bedtime story snoozing. I have to buy a new one for our next baby as dd won't be happy if her Ewan goes missing. We switched off the little red heartbeat light inside though as it was just a waste of battery. Worth every penny for us.

We love Ewan! 'Fixed' my 4mo DS sleeping overnight!

Heatherbell1978 · 23/03/2015 09:26

Ewan!! TBH DS1 never paid him much attention when he was teeny but the noise did help soothe him. Now he's 7 months and he has the 'big' Ewan and 2 of the little Ewan snuggles in his cot and he adores them. Big Ewan's battery ran out ages ago so we don't need the noise anymore. As soon as he's in his cot he dives for them and all I see on the monitor is sheep flying everywhere! He self soothes at night now and I credit Ewan for getting him off the dummy and him sleeping through the night now!!

Hey! I've got a little one on the way and a 14 month old son, I heard the same things about the FP Seahorse but decided to get one anyway and use it with supervision at first, it's been absolutely fine and I plan to get one for my daughter who is due in July too :)

JassyRadlett · 23/03/2015 18:49

Ewan every time! We had both (seahorse was a gift) and Ewan was much more effective.

Pico2 · 23/03/2015 19:09

We have a Ewan and he seems to eat his way through batteries at an alarming rate and dislike rechargeables. I prefer the Sound Sleeper app on my phone, which is free. But DD2 doesn't need noise like DD1 did anyway, she just sleeps a lot.

Emus · 24/03/2015 11:16

@Dolly - have you seen there's a toddler version now (it's a dog)?! Not sure what it does but am considering getting it for 2 year old and giving as a gift from new baby and giving new baby Ewan!!

one1two2three3 · 26/03/2015 07:49

My DD is only 5 days old and we had Ewan given to us by my sister. DD seems to like the noise and we do use it alot... I also find it very soothing and have drifted off listening to it Blush

We've had the seahorse now for 6 months and my 2 year old is finally settled in her own bed/room with it, could be coincidence of course but she loves it.

Its the older style one that had issues with the battery compartment overheating and we certainly haven't came across any problems with ours.
