Has my 3mo baby outgrown his Sleepyhead Deluxe?

Hi,

We got the Sleepyhead deluxe pod for use in a cotbed since DS was newborn, (Found it amazing, he sleeps really well). The guidelines say use up until 8 months. He is 3 months and 3 weeks old.

He is a big baby, 75th for weight, 91st for length. I have noticed that when I put him to bed now, his arms are sort of bunched in towards his body, and his hands often stick up towards the ceiling for a long duration while sleeping.

He hasn't actually changed his sleeping patterns and still sleeps well, he isn't waking up lots more or anything, but he just looks so cramped up!

Are they supposed to be so snug? Is it time so soon to get rid?

I wouldn't worry too much if he still sleeps well (I'm sure he'd protest if he wasn't comfortable!). DS1 is 7 months and we moved him out of it at 5 months. At that point I thought he was looking a little neat and he's on the 25th centile! When we'd just bought it a friend put her 8 month old in it who was on the 9th centile and he couldn't fit so I'm not convinced on the 8 month thing! They're great but if you're in a position to transition him out of it soon, I would, as it's good not to rely on it. I started putting DS1 down for naps in the day in his cot in his own room without it when he was 3 months and he was fine. So he still slept in it at night until he was 5 months in our room. He never protested when we put him down at night without it in his cot.
