7 month old sleeping on front - yes/no??

Hi my 7 month DD has always been a terrible sleeper, waking from naps after 30 mins and waking every couple of hours through the night. Well this afternoon I lay her on her front to nap and she slept really well!

I've just put her down for bed and I've put her on her front again, she nodded off straight away! Now I'm stressing though and don't know if to leave her or turn her on her back?!?!?! She can roll onto her front by herself but she doesn't do it often yet and has never done it in her cot.

What should I do??? Confused I really want her (and me!) to get some sleep but I know SIDS guidance says otherwise.

My dd started rolling on her front to sleep at about 8 months I think, I just let her get on with it. If I were you I'd be happy to put her down on her front as she's likely to be moving herself that way soon regardless of what you do.

The lullaby trust says once they can roll both ways to let them find their own position.

My HV said not to worry too much after 6 months, although I have no idea if that's backed up by evidence.

Just re-read some sids stuff, 90% of cases occur before 6months so you are past the riskiest period. Also lower risk as your dc is female. How old are you? Highest common factor is mothers under 20 (no idea why!). If you are following the other stuff - feet to foot, no loose bed clothes, 16-20 degrees etc then your risk will be very, very low.

I would leave her. DS has rarely slept on his back since tiny (now 12 months)

I would leave her...mine all slept on their front from early

We've left her so far and no wake ups! Miracle! I'm 30 so definitely not under 20! I'm keeping a close eyes on her on the monitor. I'm not sure I'll be able to relax enough to leave her all night though?!?

Hurrah!

I would leave her. My 6 month does the same, first few nights i kept turning her back but found it just disturbed her more. Now most of the time she sleeps curled up in a ball in the corner.

Our 8 mo has just started to turn over onto his front at night to sleep In the last week. His sleeping has improved enormously as a result! Like you, we worry but you cant do much when they want to be on their front.
