7 month old waking earlier and earlier every day!

AAAAAAHHHH
My son goes to bed at 9.30pm every night and has always woke about 7.30am but the last week or 2 he has been waking earlier and earlier, today it was 5.25am, I tried to ignore him to see if he would go back to sleep but gave up at 6am! I don't think he could be waking out of hunger as he eats absolutely loads in the day and also has 9oz of milk straight before bed. Any suggestions? I'm knackered!

9:30 seems like a very late bedtime to me. It seems counter intuitive but they often wake earlier when they have been over tired the day before. An earlier bedtime may help. Dd goes to bed at 6:30/7 at 8 months old

He used to go to bed the same time as us and wake at 9am every day but we thought we should start putting him up earlier so we've started putting him up at 9.30 and he was doing great waking at 7 which is fine for me but now it's getting earlier every day, he doesn't actually sleep from 9.30 he sleeps from about 7pm on one of our laps but then I change and feed him about 9.20 and take him up to his cot so he's not only sleeping from 9.30 really x

First id try cutting the falling asleep on your lap - try a bedtime bath, feed and down into the cot from about seven.

Then try a feed at half five, but keep it dark and quiet and (daft as this sounds) no eye contact, then back down to sleep. He may be about to have a growth spurt so may well need the feed.

9.30 seems too late. My 6.5 month old goes to bed at half 6/7. Can you push his routine earlier?

Twinklestar2 · 04/03/2015 10:22

Ah I see he falls asleep on your lap at 7... I would implement a bedtime routine starting at 6ish and have him in bed for 7. Grin

Why time does your baby wake up when in bed by 6/7? Do they wake for a feed?

Mine is 4mo and wakes at half five for a feed then back to sleep til 8am.

Ok x I'm gonna bath him around 6.30 to be in bed by 7 tonight and see how that goes! X

Mine doesn't wake up for a feed so I feed him as close to 7am as possible.

He is now formula fed tho...

Good luck for tonight! Grin

YAY. I bathed him, fed him and put him to bed by 7.30pm, he woke up briefly and drifted in and out of sleep from 5.20am to 5.40am and then went back to sleep until 7.15amSmileSmileSmile

Yaaaay!! Its a weird science but earlier bedtimes usually mean a longer sleep.
