Graduating out of sleeping bags??

DS is 1yo and has slept in sleeping bags since he learned to roll around in his swaddle at about 4 months.
Recently, when I mentioned it to a friend she was shocked he was still in them and said she ditched them months ago.
But DS is such a wriggle that a blanket is just not going to cut it. I don't mind him being in them a bit longer than is usual but am now PFBing about the whole thing.

So, when did yours graduate out of sleeping bags and what did you use instead?

We used until 2ish. We had the merino baby ones which are one 0-2 years size. They do sell a 2-4 year size also, so I can't imagine 1 year being too old.

Still in them at 18mo and I just bought two in 18-36mo size. Why not?

Highlandbird · 19/02/2015 21:38

My oldest was in them until about 2 and a half. Youngest still in them at almost 2. Keeps them warm and cosy, nobody else's business Smile

Your friend is missing a trick. They sell gro-bags up to age 10!

Mine were in sleeping bags till they were about 2 or 3. For as long as they were still in their cots. Then I put them in fleecy onesy type things with feet in, but no hood, as they were always losing their blankets in the night and waking up cold.

My dd is 1 and I have no intention of ditching them yet! I have just bought her a couple of 12 - 18 month ones. She is very cosy in it and I find them really useful especially for a wriggly baby!

We didn't use the 18-36 month size but switched to the Gro duvet. Second hand off eBay but I think I'd pay full price.
DD is in an Ikea cot with removable side and they don't make it in a cot size. I think we may try the Vertbaudet tuck in duvet cover but I reckon I could run one up from a cover and sheet.

justabigdisco · 19/02/2015 21:55

We just moved from bag to duvet and my DD is 3.2

FATEdestiny · 19/02/2015 22:20

I've not ditched the sleeping bag until my children went from cot to bed - so about 3 years old.

StrawberryMojito · 19/02/2015 22:23

About 18 months I think.

IPityThePontipines · 19/02/2015 22:27

Dd1 was in her sleeping bag until she could escape from it at around 18months.

Dd2 is still happily in her sleeping bag at 13 months, if she's happy, why change?

Cooper11111 · 20/02/2015 10:45

My boy was nearly 3! He loved it, but then he had never stood up in his cot-just lay where he was put each night! I was panicking about letting them go but he went into a new room, new bed, no sleeping bag in one night and has never looked back x

dementedpixie · 20/02/2015 10:51

dd was in hers until 18 months (as that was the biggest one I had) but ds was in his until 2 and a half as we bought the bigger one (up to age 3). It was around the age he went into a big bed rather than a cot.

Thanks everyone! Grin
