DD's first night in her room what to expect???

Hi all,

So I have finally taken the step and set up DD's room. She was soooo excited and happy to see her room when she got home from school today. Spent most of the night telling me she loves her room and will be sleeping in her own bed tonight. It made me feel at ease to know she won't be difficult about it.
DD is 4 and half years old by the way and an only child.

So far we have been in her room for almost 1.5 hrs and she has not stopped talking although is yawning away so clearly tired. We've read all her favourite stories, sang numerous nursery rhymes and even talked about all her friends.

I'm putting it down to the excitement she is feeling of having her own room, but the question I guess I'm really asking is how shall I move forward with this? What interventions have you all tried to help your children settle in.

I need all the wisdom your all willing to share, pretty please Smile

Has she ever slept by herself?

I would start as I mean to go on. Bath. Teeth. Story. Sleep (at whatever her usual time is)

If you don't do that the first night, when will you?

Thanks much that's exactly what I have done, stuck to her usual routine. Difference being she is in her brand new room. The talking and excitement had taken us way over the usual bed time, she's normally asleep by 9.

Ok that wasn't too bad for the first night, she is asleep Grin

Hopefully she will stay asleep the whole night and not run into my room in the middle of the night (fingers crossed)
