My 9wo is awake ALL day!

My ds sleeps fantastically well at night, from around 9pm til 8am with one feed in between but in the daytime he just won't sleep other than for perhaps twenty minutes twice a day.

He used to be excellent at settling himself to sleep but now I have to rock him for ages and then just when I put him down his eyes will ping open. He looks very tired and when I bf him he quite often doses off but wakes as soon as I wind him.

Quite often in the evenings he'll lay awake for an hour or more in his bed after his last feed and just cry occasionally as if he has a bit of wind.

Surely this isn't normal?! My dd useful to have two or three big naps a day, I've no idea how my ds is managing on so little sleep.

Will he sleep in a sling or pram?

Chocolateporridge · 26/01/2015 15:36

He sleeps in his pram but I can't always get out.

My 14 week old DD is like this too, she sleeps well in her crib at night but won't go near it during the day. She will have small cat naps throughout the day either out and about in her car seat or pram. Or she'll fall asleep on my lap after a feed and if she does this I just let her sleep on my lap until she wakes. Means I can't get anything done though but it's the only way she'll sleep during the day. I say as long as your DS is sleeping well at night and getting cat naps here and there during the day and he doesn't seem over tired then he's probably getting enough sleep.

11 hours during the night is amazing which is maybe why hes not so tired during the day and 20 mins is enough im very jealous of the one feed a night my 5.5month old is up sometimes 10 times a night never less than 3 and only sleeps 20 min naps during the d day.

Thanks pip, that's reassuring Smile, he actually managed 45 mins at last this morning but just 20 this afternoon.

Oh my goodness summer, that's tough, I'd be a quivering wreck by now! You're doing so well Thanks
