27 month old pooing at 4.30am and ready to start the day!

Help please. My son seems to have regressed with night time pooing and waking at 4.30am. The dirty nappy is obviously waking him up but he will not go back to sleep. He sings, plays, opens his door, turns light on (have removed bulb) and is then totally shattered, over tired and beside himself by 9.30am.
I have no idea why his body clock has shifted forward 2 hours? There have been no changes in his little world ie no day time changes, no daily care routine changes, no dramas.....
Can anyone please offer any advice or solutions?
Thanks

Hi op. You have my sympathy as early waking sucks. My ds did it for a looong time & it really made him hard work. Good news is it can be sorted - it is just a phase!

Does your ds still nap & if so what time & how long for? My guess is he may need a bit of a change in routine. Early waking is usually a symptom of either overtiredness, or the daytime nap starting too early. Both can be resolved fairly easily. If he is overtired then longer naps or earlier bedtime will help, if his nap starts too early then slowly push it later.

We had to start ds nap around 1.30/2pm at that age, any earlier led to early waking. We'd make sure he was up from his nap by 4pm latest then bed at 8pm & he'd sleep til 7am. He also started needing the occasional no nap day - we'd do a 6pm bedtime to stop him getting overtired.

Wrt the early morning poo, IME although it seems like that is what's waking him, its more likely he is waking up first & because he's awake & ready to start the day, he then does a poo. We had the same with ds when he woke early, but once we cracked that poos returned to normal time. Hth
