What are you doing when you get up with her? Do you spend time settling her back to sleep, give her water/calpol, pick her up? Are you sure she's awake when you go to her, my dd will often cry/call out in her sleep but if we leave her she setles again.

If my dd (now 1) does wake up properly, I simply lay her back down, lay a hand on her chest for a few mins until she calms down, and then leave the room again. At times I've had to do this several times a night, but I don't want to do anything to encourage her to wake. If she's really poorly then I'll sleep with her in the bed in the nursery, but that is only on rare occasions.

I'm a fan of doing what feels right to you, but it's worth leaving her for a bit just in case she'll settle herself.

Vicky,

You are not alone. Have you read the No Cry Sleep Solution thread? It has about 200+ entries.. We are all going through the same thing too. We are all trying gentle methods of getting our babies to sleep rather than leave them to cry. Your mother in law sounds like my mother in law. I had to teach DH how to hug when I met him which says it all. You can get the book off ebay for about £5. Author Elizabeth Pantley.

I have had similar problem for months. And we get so tired we cant think logically about what it may be - cant be teething for that long.. anyway, health visitor suggested giving her an extra breastfeed in day/or bottle. I bf her 2x(morning and evening) and have decided to give her extra bottle of formula around 2pm. Only started yesterday and she did wake last night, but went back down...so maybe it'll work...please please please. Anyway thought I'd let you know in case yours is that reason. Will keep you posted
