Why won't my 2 year old go to sleep??

Up until a week ago she was fine. We had a great routine - milk downstairs, then she'd get her blanket and dummy and we'd go upstairs, 2 stories in bed, a song and tuck her in. She settled herself with the door shut and light off, no problem. she did this from before she was a year old.

BUT.. This week I seem to have a different DD As soon as bed is mentioned the tantrum starts. I calm her down, coax her upstairs and she's fine with her story and song, but starts wailing again when I leave. I've tried putting her back and ignoring her, laying with her until calm, going up earlier; nothing is working. I have 2 other dc so can't really do CIO - we tried once but it meant ds was kept awake then he was up and down for an hour

I thought I'd cracked it tonight - she wanted to sleep in ds bed, got straight in and didn't move. I stayed until she was asleep (only 10 mins) but she woke at 11.30 and has been awake since, even when I got into bed with her.

What can I do?? 10 week old has been sleeping through for a fortnight so we'd just got used to mostly u disturbed nights too!

Is she cutting her molars?
Do you think she is genuinely anxious or angry when you leave her? I ask because I'm trying to sleep train my 2 year old at present and she is definitely angry, not scared, when I leave her.

Maybe you could jiggle her bedtime? Try later and earlier? Is she having a nap in the day?

Thanks for your replies that's a good point jelly , they've been coming through for a while. She seems scared, she gets very upset and keeps shouting "no I don't like it!"

She dropped her nap about 3 months ago, so that's not an issue, unless she's overtired.

The other thing is that ds has a single bed, hers is a toddler bed, so maybe she's ready to move up to a big bed?

My two year old is a bit of a struggle at bedtime. She's really resisting feeling tired, yells at me when I try to sing her bedtime song, and basically screams No No No! when I leave. Luckily she's then falling asleep within minutes, though.

She's teething and is blossoming with her language and social skills. She gets very tired but hates going to bed because she has to stop playing with her language etc. She calms down a lot when we talk about what she did that day, and what we'll do tomorrow. It seems to reassure her that she'll get to do it all again tomorrow.
