New mum to a nearly 7 wk old & need some reassurance that the witching hour is real & does exist! At the moment every day is different in terms of when she sleeps and for how long so I'm concerned with why so many people are already bombarding me with the R (routine) word! She sleeps a good 3/4 hours when she does go down but the times during the day can really differ depending on when we're in / out as she'll happily sleep in Buggy/car seat. However one thing I can guarantee is from when she last wakes up in the afternoon/early eve she'll be awake for hours fussing, climbing up me and hyper alert until I almost have to employ every tactic known to man kind to get her down (at the moment anywhere between 11pm and 1am). She's now on formula so know she's getting decent amounts of feed. When she does eventually settle she'll sleep for 5-7 hours until morning. Am I doing something wrong? Should I try and keep her awake more in the afternoons? I'm attempting a very loose bedtime routine around 7ish eg pjs, dim lights, not too stimulation but its v early days. My partner can work several evenings a week so it's just me during the witching hour and I feel like I'm going a little stir crazy! Any advice on day time napping routines or should I banish any thoughts of routine at this stage? And does the witching hour really exist???
