Anyone got any remedies for bad wind?!?

Hello i have a 3 week old baby who after every feed is screaming in pain due to wind at the moment I am trying infacol which doesn't seem to be doing anything I can't bear to see him in so much pain has anyone tried anything else? x

Hi I have the same problem with my 7 week old and it started at around 3 weeks. Are you breastfeeding? I ask as my ds has just been diagnosed with tongue tie which is causing him to gulp lots of air.

yes I am breast feeding but don't they check for that in the hospital?
he has started being a very noisy eater but this is only a very recent thing and I'm not sure why

Jemima I'm so sorry to hear that your LO is in pain.
The only other thing we tried was lying DD down and gently moving her legs in a bicycle motion (advised by midwife) and that seemed to help a little. We did that several times a day and it used to calm her down.
Hope someone else will be along soon with more suggestions.

Have you tried laying them on their back and gently cycling their legs (as if they were on a bicycle)? Sounds odd but used to work a charm with DS.

Although when it got really bad, I used to drink Fennel Tea (Urgh) as it seemed to help.

Are you winding him properly? I found it quite hard to start with when I was burping my first child to efficiently get all his wind up before putting him back to bed. If you are and this is not the issue, then I would go and see your HV and/or GP to investigate why he's getting so much wind and whether its gulping air or indigestion. He could be sensitive to foods you're eating (many babies get wind if their DMs eat certain things - dairy, legumes, pulses, onions, for example), or he could need a different formula or a bottle that prevents him getting too much air if you're bottle-feeding.

Just seen your second post - he shouldn't be making slurping sounds when he's feeding. An efficient latch means the baby's mouth is making an airtight seal with your nipple - hence having to insert your finger into the side of the mouth at the end of a feed to 'pop' the seal before removing them. It sounds like his latch has lapsed since you were in hospital.
