How can I stop rocking my 11 month to sleep for naps?

Hi all. I am currently rocking my 11 month old baby daughter to sleep for her daytime naps. I've tried pick up and put down but she just gets increasingly upset. If i just leave her she cries, then screams. When she still slept in our room she was able to self settle but since moving into her own room at around 8 months she won't go down for naps without being rocked. In the evening I breastfeed her to sleep (I'll cross that bridge later!) and she is able to self settle when she wakes in the night, and usually sleeps through now. But I have to rock her for her morning and afternoon nap, usually just takes five - ten minutes or so but this afternoon it took half an hour. I have lower back problems, and think the rocking and pick up / put down is starting to take it's toll. Would love to hear success stories from people who managed to successfully stop rocking their older babies to sleep - how did you do it?? Thanks.
